AS Roma have launched their new adidas third kit for the 2023/24 season, which not only looks incredibly sleek in black but is also steeped in the ‘ancient allure’ of the city and its club.
Roma continue to use the ‘Lupetto’ emblem designed by the late, great Piero Gratton. This time, it is coloured black and encased in a white circle with red and yellow borders.
Gratton’s legacy is also felt with the stylised ‘R’’ on the back colour – the letter was part identity when the Lupetto was first introduced. It is placed on the back collar to symbolize the connection between tradition and the future in this third chapter of the Giallorossi’s ‘Eternal Future’.
The unmistakable adidas stripes are present in Roma’s historic colours: yellow, orange and red. The guilloche pattern on the sleeves is also specifically inspired by the ornamental elements of ancient Rome’s mosaics, but given a contemporary twist.
As with all modern kits, it is filled with modern technology and innovations. The adidas AEROREADY technology uses absorbent and breathable materials to keep players dry. It is also made with 100% recycled materials, a step towards helping to end plastic waste.
Earlier this year, adidas announced that it was ahead of schedule to replace virgin polyester with recycled polyester in its products wherever possible by the end of 2024.
The new kit will be worn by the men’s and women’s teams, and will be available from 26 September in adidas stores, online at adidas.co.uk/as_roma in AS Roma stores and online at store.asroma.com.
