Ties between communist China, UPenn, Biden documents probed

Anyone who has ever served our country in a capacity which required a security clearance knows that dealing with classified materials is serious business.

Federal agencies and the military services all have regulations, based on law, for handling classified documents, and they cover everything from the origination to the destruction of the document as well as chain of custody, transportation and storage requirements, and they impose strict penalties for the violation the law “regardless of office or level of employment.”

When former President Donald Trump made the news after having classified material stored at his residence in Mar-A-Lago, Democratic politicians, their acolytes in the liberal media, and the White House all erupted in a chorus of furious indignation against the former president. The documents had been seized in an FBI raid on Trump’s residence, and President Joe Biden, on “60 Minutes” said, “How that could possibly happen, how … anyone could be that irresponsible.”

The Democrats thought they had another “aha, we’ve got him now” moment, and Attorney General Merrick Garland dutifully appointed a special counsel to nail the coffin shut. But what goes around comes around.

The ink was barely dry on the special counsel appointment when CBS News broke the story that classified documents were found in Biden’s office at the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement.

The documents were apparently from Biden’s time as vice president. At first, the reliably pro-Biden media tried to downplay the discovery, but then, there was a second, and third, and a fourth cache of classified material found at various locations, including the Biden residence and garage.

Now, most media people are asking questions and are attacking the obvious hypocrisy of Biden regarding the Trump documents, but the story gets even better.

The existence of the classified documents at the Biden Penn Center was known to the Justice Department and Attorney General Garland both before the mid-term elections and also before the special counsel was appointed to investigate Trump. To play catch up, Garland has appointed a second special counsel to investigate the Biden document haul.

Almost lost here is the possible role of the Penn Biden Center in all of this. Penn has had longtime ties to the Biden family, and paid Joe Biden $911,000 as a faculty member from 2017-2019. Once the Biden Center was set up there, Penn was the recipient of approximately $47.7 million from Communist Chinese entities, according to John Solomon’s investigative news site JusttheNews.com.

The president of Penn, Amy Gutmann, was also appointed ambassador to Germany by Biden. In her confirmation hearings, Gutmann did not deny Penn’s relationship with communist China, and in fact, they seem quite proud of it, if you believe their website at https://global.upenn.edu/global-initiatives/penn-china. Then-Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro was also asked in July 2021 to investigate Penn’s ties with China in a letter from a group called “Take Back our Republic,” but the letter went unanswered.

Right around the time Penn received all of that dough from China, they launched a campaign to shut down the “China Initiative,” a program to curtail China’s campaign of economic and intellectual espionage, set up by former Attorney General Jeff Sessions in 2018.

The program was working and had resulted in successful legal actions against Chinese agents, as shown in this Justice Department review: https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/china-initiative-year-review-2019-20. But that apparently didn’t sit well with those at Penn and the Biden Center, so a letter from Penn bearing the signatures of dozens of Penn faculty members, demanding that the initiative be shut down was sent to new Attorney General Merrick Garland. Last February, while the world attention was focused on Ukraine, Garland quietly shut down the China Initiative. The letter can be read here: https://justthenews.com/sites/default/files/2023-01/UPennLettertoGarlandreChinaInitiative.pdf .

So, why is this important?

We know that Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, had business dealings with the communist Chinese, as laid out by Sens. Ron Johnson and Chuck Grassley and shown on Grassley’s website, here: https://www.grassley.senate.gov/news/remarks/grassley-johnson-release-bank-records-tying-biden-family-to-ccp-linked-individuals-and-companies. Messages on Hunter Biden’s laptop reference a portion of proceeds going to “The Big Guy,” who might be President Biden.

How does all of this link to the classified documents being kept at the Penn Center, and Penn’s acknowledged cozy relationship with the Chinese?

We’d like to know.

As Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Biden Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, “What are you trying to hide?”
