WrestleMania 42 was a massive success for WWE, but despite this, there were still a number of releases last week, with Bo Dallas considered to be the most heartbreaking.

WWE has faced backlash from fans for the release of Dallas, less than three years after the passing of his brother Bray Wyatt, and after his recent hiatus due to his father’s ill health.

Dallas was doing incredible work with Wyatt Sicks, and many blame WWE for dropping the ball on the group. WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray appears to echo these sentiments, sharing his thoughts on Busted Open Radio.

“I would have never got rid of Bo Dallas. Dallas is the link to Bray. I would have kept Bo Dallas around. I would have kept Dallas around and I would have kept the character doing something. Even if Uncle Howdy, for the rest of his WWE career, was always trying to find a way to talk to Bray Wyatt, to The Fiend, one more time, and that was his entire story, and his entire quest, because the last time we saw the Fiend was in the WWE, so Uncle Howdy was always searching the WWE for the door, for the stargate to find The Fiend, and we always saw him, and as we move along in his story, someone is always trying to stop him.” he claimed.

Bully Ray went on to note that he believes this goes way beyond business and that Dallas should have been kept around.

“I would have kept Dallas around. This goes way beyond business, it goes beyond a bottom line and dollars and cents, to me keeping Bo Dallas around would have been the right thing to do.”

Bo Dallas was released alongside the rest of Wyatt Sicks

Nikki Cross was the first person to confirm her release on Friday, but this was later followed by Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, and then Dallas. The whole group was released by the company, as well as the likes of Alba Fyre, Kairi Sane, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, and Allow Crews.

There were a number of other names released by the company as well, with the explanation behind the move stating that SmackDown’s return to a two-hour format means that many of the releases came from that brand.

SmackDown is expected to return to its original format in June after changing to three hours earlier this year.
