(Reuters) – Elon Musk-controlled satellite tv for pc web supplier Starlink has instructed Brazil’s telecom regulator Anatel it is not going to adjust to a courtroom order to dam social media platform X within the nation till its native accounts are unfrozen.

Anatel confirmed the knowledge to Reuters on Monday after its head Carlos Baigorri instructed Globo TV it had acquired a word from Starlink, which has greater than 200,000 prospects in Brazil, and handed it onto Brazil’s high courtroom.

Supreme Courtroom Justice Alexandre de Moraes final week ordered all telecom suppliers within the nation to close down X, which can be owned by billionaire Musk, for missing a authorized consultant in Brazil.

The transfer additionally led to the freezing of Starlink’s financial institution accounts in Brazil. Starlink is a unit of Musk-led rocket firm SpaceX. The billionaire responded to the account block by calling Moraes a “dictator.”

The choice to freeze Starlink’s accounts stems from a separate dispute over unpaid fines X was ordered to pay as a consequence of its failure to show over some paperwork.

The Supreme Courtroom didn’t reply to a request for remark.

On Monday, a five-member panel of the courtroom is about to determine whether or not to uphold Moraes’ ruling.

Legislation consultants consulted by Reuters have stated they consider the panel will seemingly affirm Moraes’ ruling.
