“You went on one date! How good could it have been?” “Honestly, great.” Netflix has revealed a final trailer for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, an animated take on the beloved Scott Pilgrim comic book series. Creator Bryan Lee O’Malley returned to develop this, with his distinct visual style coming to life on the screen as an animation series for streaming. Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but learns he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. Then things get even more complicated. Based on the beloved graphic novels by O’Malley. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off runs 8 eps – with the voices of Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Satya Bhabha, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Alison Pill, Brie Larson, Aubrey Plaza, Anna Kendrick, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, Johnny Simmons, Mark Webber, Mae Whitman, and Ellen Wong (pretty much the entire cast from Edgar Wright’s movies back again). Animated by Science SARU, with a crazy fun score by Anamanaguchi and Joe Trapanese. I’ve heard this series focuses much more on Ramona than fans might be expecting, with additional aspects to her story than revealed in the original comics. You are in for a treat.” Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is a series created by the comic book artist / writer Bryan Lee O’Malley, writing the adaptation (based on his own graphic novels) along with screenwriter BenDavid Grabinski, who is also the showrunner. With episodes directed by animation expert Abel Gongora (director of the “T0-B1” segment of “Star Wars: Visions”). It’s executive produced by Bryan Lee O’Malley, Michael Bacall, Eunyoung Choi, BenDavid Grabinski, Jared LeBoff, Nira Park, Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, and Edgar Wright.
