Putin reportedly additionally defined that on the time, Russian air defence was actively countering Ukrainian drone assaults. Nevertheless, he didn’t clearly state that the air defence had hit the airplane with a missile.

Putin “as soon as once more expressed his deep and honest condolences to the households of the victims and wished the injured a speedy restoration,” the Kremlin stated additional.

The Azerbaijan Airways passenger jet, which had taken off from Baku heading for Grozny, the capital of the Russian republic of Chechnya, crashed on Wednesday in Kazakhstan.

In the course of the cellphone dialog between Putin and Aliyev, it was famous that the Azerbaijani passenger airplane had repeatedly tried to land on the airport in Grozny. “On the similar time, Grozny, Mozdok and Vladikavkaz have been being attacked by Ukrainian fight drones, which Russian air defence repelled,” the Kremlin reported.

Vladikavkaz is the capital of the Russian republic of North Ossetia. Mozdok can be in North Ossetia.

Preliminary investigations had raised the suspicion that the airplane that crashed may need been broken by the explosion of an anti-aircraft missile.
