Let’s look at MAGA logic.
When Donald Trump was president, he was immune from prosecution.
If Trump is running for office, prosecuting him for anything should be disallowed because it is election interference.
Since there is no restriction on when a person can declare himself a candidate for president, MAGA logic says he is immune if he wins the presidency, and should not be interfered with if, after losing, he immediately declares himself a candidate for the next election.
Why didn’t John Gotti’s fancy lawyers think of this? All he had to do was say “I’m running for president — back off.”
