Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo‘s split was a BIG shock to the public, but those close to the couple may have seen this coming!
While the singer and podcaster seemed to have such a loving relationship, apparently, things were a lot more “complicated” behind the scenes! A source close to the musician spoke to People on Wednesday, revealing they’ve “always had a complicated dynamic” — even in their early days!
If you don’t know, Jelly and Bunnie met when the singer was struggling financially and Bunnie was making a living as a sex worker. They were friends at first before things turned romantic in 2016. But in 2018, they briefly split after the Wild Ones artist admitted to an affair. Oof.

Addressing the start of their relationship, the source shared:
“When they first got together, they were both in a very different place in their lives. There was a lot of chaos, ups and downs, and they built a life together through all of that.”
But Jelly has “changed a lot” in recent years, especially as he’s focused on his impressive weight loss journey. And maybe, it’s just been one too many changes? The insider continued:
“He’s very focused on his future, his health and being around for a long time. There wasn’t a moment where everything fell apart. They still love each other but were no longer on the same page about certain things, including what they wanted their future to look like. People saw the public side of things, but there was a lot more going on privately.”
Hmm. That future comment is interesting. One of the last big updates we heard from the couple before this split news was that they were trying for kids using IVF. Did those plans change??
Or is this source — who’s notably on Jelly’s side — trying to brush away rumors he may have cheated again? Bunnie’s been suggesting as much on her socials lately! It would account for the speed of the split… and be a LOT messier for Jelly to handle in the public eye. Either way, yeah, calling it complicated seems fair!
