A former 13-time WWE Champion has shared a heartfelt message for Cody Rhodes, reminiscing about their highly acclaimed bout in AEW.

Before he became WWE’s QB1, Cody Rhodes roamed the halls of AEW, a promotion he helped found, where he held the EVP title before exiting in 2022. During his time in the Jacksonville-based promotion, the American Nightmare was part of intense storylines and critically acclaimed matches, including his singles match with his brother, Dustin Rhodes, at AEW’s inaugural Double or Nothing pay-per-view in 2019. Despite being a standard one-fall match, the bout became a show-stealer and featured blood and intense physicality from both men.

Earlier today, Dustin Rhodes took to X and reshared a fan’s post reminiscing about the match that occurred 7 years ago. The Natural, a former 13-time WWE champion, including multiple reigns as Intercontinental, Hardcore, and tag team champion, said he feels blessed to have been part of that match and loves his brother. The Natural also thanked Tony Khan and AEW for creating the opportunity and the moment.

“Time has flown by!!! I know Cody has different favorite matches, but I am so blessed that we got to put on a fantastic clinic. Love my bro so much. #DON has a very special place in my heart! Thank you @AEW and @TonyKhan for that opportunity and moment,” Dustin wrote on X

Ex-WWE star Dustin Rhodes recently shared a huge personal update

Many know that Dustin Rhodes used to battle severe addiction issues. He would actively use pain-relieving substances to help him compete in the ring without struggling night after night. Last week, the Natural revealed that he has been sober for 18 years. He mentioned that the actual anniversary date is May 19, but he forgot to share it on that day, instead letting fans know 4 days later in a post on X.

“Forgot to post on the 19th, but it is my sober birthday 18yrs. Super proud of my journey, and wouldn’t change a thing. Here’s to 18 more!!!”
