Everton have been pursuing a number of potential new managers to take charge of the squad over the second half of the season and now an update has emerged from a reliable source.

According to former Toffees communications director and news editor Alan Myers, ex-Burnley boss Sean Dyche is set to be appointed as the new manager.
Myers tweeted:
“Everton expected to appoint Sean Dyche as their next manager today Bielsa and Dyche had talks in London yesterday but the former Burnley manager is now expected to succeed Frank Lampard.”
Dyche could save Everton’s season
There is no doubt that as the days pass by the pressure to pick the right manager to save Everton from their downfall is mounting on the likes of Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright.
It will be essential for the Merseysiders to identify a coach who can come in and turn things around instantly with the squad that has been struggling this season, as it is unlikely due to financial constraints that Everton will make many if any new signings over the remaining days of the January transfer window.
The Toffees are currently 19th in the Premier League following a string of poor performances over their first 20 outings, with just 15 points collected from a possible 60 so far, so it won’t be an easy task for whoever takes on the role.
However, the appointment of Dyche could be the transformative inspiration this Everton squad needs in order to retain their top-flight status a the end of the season as the former Burnley boss became an expert in relegation scraps during his time at Turf Moor.
During his tenure, the 51-year-old manager managed to not only get the club promoted from the Championship but also survived in the top flight with league placements of 17th, tenth and 15th over his last three campaigns, before being sacked ahead of their relegation last season.
Dyche is also already familiar with a few of the players currently occupying a spot in the Everton squad as James Tarkowski and Dwight McNeil both part of his over-achieving Burnley squad in the past.
With that being said, the appointment of Dyche could not only save their season over their remaining fixtures but also help them to build a better future and a new identity on the pitch that provides much more consistent performances from the squad.
