Dutch police halt pro-Palestinian rally after soccer violence By Reuters

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – Riot police in Amsterdam started breaking apart a pro-Palestinian protest on Sunday after a courtroom upheld a ban on demonstrations following clashes this week involving Israeli soccer followers.

A whole bunch of demonstrators defied the prohibition to assemble within the Dutch capital’s Dam sq., chanting calls for for an finish to violence in Gaza and “Free Palestine.”

However after an area courtroom ratified town authorities’ ban, police moved in, instructing protesters to go away. A number of individuals had been dragged away by police, a Reuters journalist noticed.

The three-day ban was imposed from Friday after assaults on Israeli soccer supporters following a soccer match on Thursday between visiting Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax Amsterdam.
