Democrats work for America – Las Vegas Sun News

By Tom Harper, Las Vegas

Republicans in Congress are the Party of No — no proposals to address the needs of the American people and instead the worst kind of partisan public relations, like attacking President Joe Biden by going after his son Hunter, without evidence of any presidential wrongdoing.

This is important because in our nation, legislation is first proposed in the U.S. House, passed there and then sent to the Senate. If passed by the Senate, it is sent to the president to sign into law.

Rep. Chip Roy , R-Texas, recently ranted on the House floor: “One thing. I want my Republican colleagues to give me one thing — one — that I can go campaign on and say we did.”

Campaigning can be done virtually through phonebanking to competitive states like Pennsylvania, Georgia and others, to elect members of the Party of Yes: Democrats who deliver the goods on matters important to this nation, such as infrastructure, inflation and climate change.

We can certainly do better than Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., and must demand passage of meaningful and significant legislation. In order to do so, we must campaign for and vote for members of the Party of Yes.
