Container explodes on cargo ship at China’s key Ningbo port

BEIJING — A hazardous items container exploded Friday on a cargo ship in China’s high-traffic Ningbo port, Taiwanese vessel proprietor Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. informed CNBC in a press release.

No casualties or accidents have been introduced to this point. The incident occurred on the YM Mobility ship and led to a fireplace, which has been introduced below management, the proprietor stated. All folks on board have been safely evacuated.

The Liberia-flagged ship had arrived in Ningbo after final calling at Shanghai, in accordance with MarineTraffic monitoring information. State-owned port operator Ningbo-Zhoushan stated the ship was docked on the Beilun 2 container terminal, in accordance with a submit on Chinese language social media.

The port operator and Yang Ming each stated the reason for the incident was not but clear.

Yang Ming added that the proprietor of the products had declared it below dry, chilly storage, with out want for plugged-in electrical energy, in accordance with a CNBC translation of the Chinese language-language assertion.

The incident didn’t instantly seem to considerably disrupt main delivery strains.
