Former UFC star Jorge Masvidal sees a star in Carlos Prates after the Brazilian’s impressive win over Jack Della Maddalena last weekend.

Prates put on a striking clinic against the former welterweight champion and got the win via TKO in the third round.

He unloaded several punches, kicks, elbows, and knees on the Australian throughout the main event. There were times when Maddalena was down on the ground, and Prates waited for him to get up before continuing the onslaught.

The TKO also handed Prates a $100,000 Performance of the Night bonus. The win impressed many across the UFC, and Din Thomas, Dustin Poirier, and Masvidal discussed this outing on UFC on Paramount.

Thomas asked if Prates should move to the front of the queue for a crack at Islam Makhachev’s welterweight gold. Masvidal brought up how good the Brazilian is and even touched upon his lifestyle choices:

“Jack Della Maddalena is good. I think he is scary good. He does everything so well. Showed great wrestling defense. Great on his feet, but I really think Carlos is something scary. He reminds me of those soccer players that stay out late, smoke cigarettes, they drink a little bit of alcohol, but when you give them the ball, they put four goals out like that Ronaldinho guy.”

Ronaldinho played soccer for Brazil and became world famous for his time at Barcelona, where he dazzled everyone with his tricks and flicks. He won several titles in his career and is considered one of the greatest to ever grace the sport.

Prates is a chain smoker and has spoken about this previously . However, that doesn’t affect his performances and has made him Masvidal’s favorite fighter.

“The way he is fighting right now is crazy. he is my current favorite fighter,” ‘Gamebred’ added.

Masvidal also went on to say how “violent” Prates is after the Maddalena win. He further wanted the Brazilian to fight for the symbolic BMF title if he wasn’t getting a crack at the welterweight gold.

“He is the most violent right now guy I have seen. It’s just elbow after knee after elbow, so fluid, with heavy tools of destruction. There is no pitty-patty in him. Everything he is throwing is to end your life, and he is doing it with so much style and grace. I think the best fighter we are looking at for violence. If he is not fighting for the belt, he is fighting for the BMF belt.”
