Context: Handguns have been restricted in Canada for decades now.
As restricted weapons they can only be purchased by people with a restricted license. This is an additional license on top of our standard firearm license, with additional requirements.
They can only be discharged at ranges that allow restricted weapons – nowhere else (including your property) and no hunting.
They can only be transported (even to a range) with a transportation permit.
In other words; this makes practically no change to existing Canadian gun culture.
