Bitesize Prediction: Halifax Town vs Oldham Athletic – 29/10/22

Competition: National League

Market: Halifax Town win

Odds: 11/10 @ 888sport

Two sides who will be hoping to make an immediate return to winning ways on Saturday evening, Halifax will welcome Oldham to The Shay.

Starting with the hosts, left disappointed on the road earlier in the week as they threw away their lead and were eventually hit with a 3-1 loss against Wrexham, Halifax will be smelling the chance to find an immediate response here. Skyrocketing their way out of the relegation zone, Chris Millington’s men have lost just one of their previous five National League matchups. Knowing that they have a golden chance to widen their buffer over the bottom-four on Saturday evening, the Shamen should also be boosted by their recent success on home soil. Last seen in front of their own supporters picking up an impressive 2-0 victory against Dagenham & Redbridge earlier in the month, Halifax have collected nine points from their last four National League showdowns at The Shay. With that run highlighted by a 1-0 win against York on October 4th, Millington’s side are rightfully seen as a standout pick here.

As for the visitors, slumping back to losing ways earlier in the week thanks to a toothless 1-0 loss away at Altincham, Oldham are enduring a real National League struggle since opening the 2022/23 campaign. Losing their Football League status over the summer and dealing with some public struggles behind the scenes, David Unsworth’s men find themselves at the heart of another relegation scrap. Making the trip to The Shay on Saturday evening holding just a three-point buffer over the drop zone, the ex-Everton defender has seen his downbeat squad pick up just a single fifth-tier victory since September 17th. Likewise, continuing to gain a reputation for their problems on the road, it should be highlighted that Oldham are yet to pick up a single away win so far this season. Facing what could be another tricky test away from Boundary Park, we’re backing a home victory here.

Bet: Halifax Town 11/10 to beat Oldham Athletic in Saturday’s National League battle @ 888sport
