Akshata Murty admits she hates making the bed and stacking dishwasher

LONDON: Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy’s daughter, Akshata Murty, hates making the bed in the mornings and is happy to leave it unmade whilst her husband, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, often has to go back to the Downing Street flat from office to make it as “it bugs him”.
“I will be irritated if it is not made,” Rishi Sunak said in an interview with Grazia, as his multi-millionaire wife admitted she is not a morning person and “not the most organised.”
When they were students at Stanford, Murty used to eat in bed and Sunak would find plates in her bed. “That is disgusting — not anymore” Sunak said, as the No. 10 power couple revealed their differences over domestic chores.
Whilst Murty loathes stacking the dishwasher, Sunak likes to take charge of it. After Murty has stacked it, he always has to rearrange it. “Then more goes in as a result,” he said, adding the way she does it “creates more work”.
Sunak said he is the better cook but only has time to make scrambled eggs on Saturdays. He wants the family to eat vegetables, carbohydrates and protein but “there is not a single meal when I come home and they are eating those three things”, he said.
“I have always got the children to set the table and clean up after meals which is what I have done growing up,” Murty said, adding she doesn’t believe in giving them incentives to do household chores. Sunak interjected: “It would be nice if they walked the dog, that they wanted to get, a bit more often.”
Sunak said he feels sad that his daughters Krishna (12) and Anoushka (11) have stopped believing in their Elf on the Shelf Rocky. “It was a magical time,” he reminisced. “They were the only kids in the class still believing in it. Rishi kept them going for as long as he could,” Murty explained.
Murty does more exercise than her husband, such as spin classes, whilst Sunak only manages to run once a week. She is the bookworm whereas Sunak said he just watches “Friends” before he goes to sleep. “It never gets old,” he said.
