Airbnb, Blackstone rise on joining S&P 500 index (NASDAQ:ABNB)

Airbnb (NASDAQ:ABNB) jumped 5.1% after hours Friday, and Blackstone (NYSE:BX) rose 4.3%, on news that the stocks would join the S&P 500.

S&P Dow Jones Indices said that as part of its quarterly rebalancing, Blackstone would be replacing Lincoln National (LNC), which will head to the SmallCap 600. Airbnb is replacing Newell Brands (NWL), also headed to the SmallCap 600. Lincoln National (LNC) fell 1.8% and Newell Brands (NWL) slipped 3%.

The S&P MidCap 400 also sees a number of additions, including Permian Resources (PR), +4.4% after hours; Gaming & Leisure Properties (GLPI), +1.6%; GoDaddy (GDDY), +2.6%; Morningstar (MORN), +4.4%; Ally Financial (ALLY), +2.8%; Vistra (VST), +4.2%; Vail Resorts (MTN), +2.3%; Sensata Technologies (ST), +4.6%; Weatherford International (WFRD), +4.3%; Fidelity National Financing (FNF), +3.6%; and RBC Bearings (RBC), +2.4%.

Leaving the MidCap 400 and heading down to the SmallCap 600: Omnicell (OMCL), Papa John’s International (PZZA), Sensient Technologies (SXT), Cathay General Bancorp (CATY), Energizer Holdings (ENR), Xerox Holdings (XRX), Highwoods Properties (HIW), Tripadvisor (TRIP), JetBlue Airways (JBLU) and Foot Locker (FL).

Exiting the SmallCap 600 are Uniqure (QURE), -2.5%; Universal Insurance Holdings (UVE), -4.7%; Trinseo (TSE), -2.5%; The Aaron’s Co. (AAN), -3.8%; Netgear (NTGR), -2.5%; Coherus Biosciences (CHRS), -1.8%; 8×8 (EGHT), -2.9%; Office Properties Income Trust (OPI), +1.6%; AngioDynamics (ANGO), -2.5%; Vanda Pharmaceuticals (VNDA), -2.7%; Orion Office REIT (ONL), -2.4%; Enanta Pharmaceuticals (ENTA), -3.4%; FutureFuel (FF), -2.4%; RE/MAX Holdings (RMAX), -4.3%; Zynex (ZYXI), -1.7%; Anika Therapeutics (ANIK) -2%; and Computer Programs Systems (CPSI), -3.1%.

The moves are all effective prior to the open of trading on Monday, Sept. 18.
