A 2021 A-frame cabin with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, on a 1.8-acre lot

This house is five minutes from Prattsville, a Greene County town with a diner, a tavern and a grocery store, and a 10-minute drive from a number of Catskill Mountains hiking and biking trails. Hunter Mountain, a popular ski resort, is 20 minutes away. The town of Catskill, on the banks of the Hudson River, is a 45-minute drive.

Driving to Hudson or Cooperstown, the home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, takes about an hour. Albany is about an hour and 15 minutes away. New York City is a three-hour drive. Rochester is less than four hours away.

Size: 1,700 square feet

Price per square foot: $324

Indoors: A wooden staircase leads up from the yard to a small deck at the main entry.

The front door opens into a living area with hardwood floors, a spiral staircase to the level above and a large picture window offering a view of mature trees.

This space is open to a dining area and kitchen with stainless steel appliances, quartz counters, custom cabinets painted forest green and sliding-glass doors that offer access to the rear deck.

Two bedrooms are on this level, at the end of a hallway extending from the living room. One has a patterned yellow accent wall; it has the use of a full bathroom with a soaking tub and a shower finished in dark green tile. The other has its own exterior entrance and the use of another full bathroom.

The second floor is configured as a large primary suite with a loft-style sitting area, large windows offering expansive views and a windowed bathroom with a shower lined in white tile.

A side-by-side washer and dryer are in the finished basement, currently used as a den and recreation room.

Columbus, Ohio | $559,999

A recently renovated 1915 bungalow with four bedrooms and two bathrooms, on a 0.2-acre lot

This house is in the Clintonville neighborhood, within a few blocks of a public library, a Kroger grocery store, a vegan restaurant and a doughnut shop, and about a five-minute drive from the main campus of The Ohio State University. It is less than a mile from Columbus Park of Roses, one of the country’s largest public rose gardens, in Whetstone Park.

The Ohio Statehouse and Columbus Museum of Art are 10 minutes away, in downtown Columbus. Driving to Cincinnati takes less than two hours. Cleveland is a two-and-a-half-hour drive.

Size: 1,669 square feet

Price per square foot: $336

The front door opens into a living room with a fireplace and multiple porch-facing windows. Through a wide doorway is a windowed dining room with white-painted wood paneling. A breakfast bar separates this space from a kitchen with new stainless steel appliances, leathered granite countertops, a built-in bench and a glass door that opens to the backyard.

One bedroom suite is on this level, off the dining room. The bedroom is big enough to hold a queen-size bed and a desk; the bathroom has a double vanity and a walk-in shower.

Three more bedrooms are upstairs, reached from a staircase in the kitchen. They share an updated bathroom with a combined tub and shower.

Outdoor space: The backyard is enclosed by a wood fence and includes a patio. The detached garage holds two cars.

Wenonah, N.J. | $550,000

A 1911 house with five bedrooms and three bathrooms, on a 0.3-acre lot

Wenonah, a Gloucester County borough about a half-hour drive from Center City Philadelphia, was founded in the early 1870s as a country escape for city residents who liked its proximity to Mantua Creek, a tributary of the Delaware River.

This house is within walking distance of a public elementary school, a public library and Tall Pines State Preserve, a 110-acre nature preserve on the site of a former golf course. Ocean City, Wildwood, Cape May and other cities along the Jersey Shore are less than 90 minutes away.

Size: 2,839 square feet

Price per square foot: $194

Indoors: The house is set back from the street, behind a manicured lawn.

To the left of the entry is a living room with original hardwood floors, diamond-paned windows and a gas fireplace with a marble surround and an original wood mantel.

The hardwood floors continue through French doors, into a dining room with a period-appropriate pendant light fixture. This space connects to a kitchen with a copper sink and a large center island with a granite counter.

A home office and a family room with a fireplace and a wet bar are off a hallway extending from the dining room. A bedroom with diamond-paned windows and an en suite bathroom is also in this part of the house.

Three more bedrooms are on the second floor, reached from a staircase in the living room. They share a bathroom with a combined tub and shower.

The third floor is configured as a primary suite, with a bedroom big enough to hold a king-size bed, a separate sitting area and a bathroom with a deep soaking tub and a walk-in shower.

Outdoor space: Behind the house is a wood deck used for outdoor dining when the weather permits. It steps down to a brick patio big enough to hold lounge furniture. The backyard beyond is landscaped with grass. The detached garage holds two cars.

Taxes: $13,812 (estimated)
