XPeng (NYSE:XPEV) announced on Thursday that it rolled out assisted driving software system to users in China’s capital city of Beijing, more than two months after the Chinese electric vehicle maker launched the technology in Shanghai.
The system, City NGP (Navigation Guided Pilot), will be applicable on major ring roads and expressways in Beijing. It is currently available in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing.
The EV maker plans to launch the assisted driving tech to dozens of cities this year, it said in a statement. In H2 of 2023, XPeng (XPEV) will gradually release assisted driving tech functions for Chinese cities without HD map coverage.
Xpeng (XPEV) is the only automaker in China that offers driver-assist tech similar to that of Tesla (TSLA).
Shares of Xpeng (XPEV) rose 2% before the bell on Thursday.
