“Do you know where you’re at, honey? You’re out in the middle of nowhere with two people that do nasty s&!t for a living.” Cineverse has unveiled an official trailer for a crime thriller titled The Dirty South, coming to theaters and on VOD to watch this November. When the small town big shot goes after the deed to her family’s bar, a heartbreaking bartender takes to extreme measures to keep it. Willa Holland stars as Sue Parker, who is thrust into a desperate struggle to rescue her family’s failing business. With the arrival of a charming wanderer, she sees him as her really only hope to help prevent their bar from being seized by the merciless local tycoon. But that’s only the start. Matthew Yerby wrote the script in 2018, based on the small-town lifestyle he grew up with in Natchitoches, Louisiana. It also stars Shane West, Laura Cayouette, Wayne Pére, Mike Manning, Gissette Valentin, and Dermot Mulroney. It looks pretty much right down the middle, exactly as expected telling this story. Another small town scuffle with the local criminals.

In the film, Sue Parker (Willa Holland) finds herself in a desperate battle to save her family’s struggling business, which is on the brink of collapse due to her father’s neglect… When a handsome drifter named Dion (Shane West) comes into town she sees him as the only chance to prevent their bar from falling into the hands of a ruthless local tycoon (Dermot Mulroney). What starts as a simple plan to save her family, quickly spirals into larceny and lawlessness heading right into deadly consequences. The Dirty South is directed by newcomer actor / filmmaker Matthew Yerby, making his feature directorial debut with this project shot mostly down in Louisiana. Produced by Suzann Toni Petrongolo, Todd Slater, Andrew Vogel, Matthew Yerby. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Cineverse will debut Yerby’s The Dirty South in select US theaters + on VOD starting on November 10th, 2023 coming soon.
