Vivo X100 Pro Review: The one thing that has always been at the centre of focus among flagship smartphones is the camera. While all the major smartphone manufacturers are trying to raise the bar, Vivo has emerged as a brand that has been quite consistent in providing smartphones with impressive camera capabilities. What’s more, it has a dedicated X Series that is taking this battle to the next level. The Vivo X100 Series is the latest addition to its arsenal. But the Vivo X100 Pro is not just about photography as the company brings several upgrades in performance and operating system to make it one of the best flagship smartphones available in the market. Find out more about the device in full review.

Vivo X100 Pro Review: Price and Variants

The Vivo X100 Pro is available in single RAM and storage variant of 16GB + 512GB and just one colour i.e. Asteroid Black. The smartphone is available for Rs 89,999.

Vivo X100 Pro Review: Box Content

The retail box contains Vivo X100 Pro, 120W fast charger, USB Type-C to C cable, SIM ejector tool, black colour protective case, user manual and warranty information.

Vivo X100 Pro Review: Design

The first thing you will notice in this smartphone is a large camera bump at the rear with ZEISS branding at the centre of the camera module, which is surrounded by a stainless-steel ring in a sunburst texture that adds elegance to it. The fluorite matte finish glass back panel in black colour feels premium but makes the device very slippery.

The device feels heavy and weighs around 225 grams with a thickness of 8.91mm. It is mainly because the device comes with a hefty 5,400mAh battery. However curved rear panel and display make it more ergonomic. Overall, the device feels sturdy and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance makes it durable.

Vivo X100 Pro Review: Display

The smartphone has a 6.78-inch full HD+ AMOLED display 8T LTPO panel. It offers an adaptative refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz and peak brightness of 3,000 nits – making it not just smooth but suitable to use even under direct sunlight. On top of that, the display comes with anti-fatigue brightness adjustment 2.0 and night eye protection mode that make it suitable for watching your favourite web series or playing video games even in low-light environments.

The display has minimum bezels and watching movies or web series is fun. The good thing is the presence of a stereo speaker which enhances the overall watching experience. Last, but not least, the display offers a good viewing angle with vibrant colours.

Vivo X100 Pro Review: Performance and Software

The Vivo X100 is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset, which is quite a powerful processor. It has been clubbed with 16GB of RAM (with an additional 16GB of virtual RAM) and 512GB of memory. This configuration makes the device powerful and capable enough to handle all your tasks easily. Be it multitasking or playing heavy games like BGMI and Asphalt 9, the device didn’t stutter even once. The only thing that you may notice is the device getting slightly warmer during heavy usage.

The device runs on the Android 14-based Funtouch OS 14. Funtouch OS has matured over the years and now offers almost a clean UI experience. However, there are still a few bloatware available on the device. The Funtouch OS 14 offers a lot of customisation options and a smooth user experience. Also, the company promises three years of security and Android updates.

Vivo X100 Pro Review: Battery and Charging

The Vivo X100 Pro comes with a 5,400mAh battery which can last for an entire day. The device comes with 120W charging brick, but it supports only 100W wired charging and can juice up the device from zero to 100 per cent in around 30 minutes. It also supports 50W wireless charging and is a good thing to have.

Vivo X100 Pro Review: Camera

Before I tell you about the camera specs, let me mention that if you are someone who always wanted to click more lively images – especially portrait shots – using a smartphone, the Vivo X100 Pro is for you.

The smartphone comes with a triple camera setup with the primary lens of 50MP Sony IMX989 with a 1-inch sensor and an upgraded Zeiss coating. It is accompanied by a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP telephoto camera – with the ability to zoom at up to 100x. For selfies, it has a 32MP shooter at the front.

The main camera with f1.75 aperture clicks images with a lot of details and good dynamic range in daylight conditions. Even in low light, it manages to control noise well and offers sharp images. Irrespective of the lighting conditions, the camera manages to keep the skin tone close to natural.

The 100x zoom capability of the camera is also decent. It can easily click photos of distant objects that are not even visible to the naked eye. You can even click some good images of the moon.

But the best part about Vivo X100 Pro is its portrait mode which comes with professional focal lengths, including 24mm (1x), 35mm (1.5x), 50mm (2.2x), 85mm (3.7x), and 100mm (4.3x).

It captures detailed images and produces an amazing bokeh effect that can be as good in images clicked with average DSLR cameras. The edge detection is superb and this mode works well in all lighting conditions. I must say that bokeh effect and edge detection are much better than other premium smartphones that I have tried and are priced higher than Vivo X100 Pro. You can get all this effortlessly using Vivo X100 Pro.

Selfie camera also produces sharp images with good skin tone. However, it is a bit of a hit-and-miss in low-light conditions.

Vivo X100 Pro Review: Verdict

Vivo X100 is one of the best options for those willing to buy a flagship smartphone. While this smartphone is extremely powerful, its good design, IP68 rating and wireless charging are some of the other key highlights. However, it is the camera of the smartphone that steals the show. It can easily take your smartphone photography skills to the next level. In a nutshell, it is worth every penny spent.
