Tennis legend Venus Williams won’t play on the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, the match revealed.
The event comes days after it introduced she would compete after accepting a wild-card entry.
“Our group has been knowledgeable that Venus isn’t accepting the wild card this 12 months,” the occasion posted on X in an announcement attributed to match director Tommy Haas.
“We want Venus all one of the best and hope to see her again in Indian Wells sooner or later.”
The BNP Paribas Open beforehand issued a press launch revealing the previous world No 1 had been awarded a wildcard to make her tenth look on the match.
The 44-year-old has not competed for the reason that Miami Open in March 2024.
The seven-time singles Grand Slam champion earlier confirmed to the TennisWeekly Podcast rumours of her skilled return weren’t true.
“I am not enjoying,” she confirmed.
“I’ll be abroad. I am not gonna be right here.”
