Trump SPAC Digital World Acquisition (NASDAQ:DWAC) confirmed that shareholders voted to approve an extension for its deal to merge with Trump’s media company by a year.
The extension amendment was approved by a vote of about 72.33% of the outstanding shares, according to an 8-K filing on Wednesday. The extension gives DWAC until Sept. 8, 2024, to complete its merger with Trump Media & Technology.
The shareholder vote was originally scheduled for last month, though it was delayed until Tuesday as the SPAC tried to garner more votes. Under a reworked agreement last month, Trump Media can still walk away from the deal by Sept. 30 if it decides it’s not in the best interest of holders. DWAC can also decide to abandon the deal.
