People who are really interested in the history of racism in this country must watch the documentary “Lowndes County and the Road to Black Power,” about an Alabama community, the Black nationalist movement known as the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the Black power movement known as the Black Panther Party.
Those who are not knowledgeable with the people and movements of this part of the South during the mid-1960s have no real understanding of the resistance of the Black minority to blatant racism.
Without this knowledge, one might really underestimate what people will do if there is a real attempt to remove or suppress citizenship rights. People won’t simply let this be done to them.
We’ve been warned.
