Spun Gold, the producer of the BAFTA Film and TV Awards, has restructured under a newly-formed umbrella company.
Nick Bullen’s indie, which also makes the likes of Milf Manor and The Real Full Monty, will now be housed within a new outfit, 53 Degrees Global, alongside newly-formed label Love Monday, Penny Lane Entertainment and post house Wise Wolf. 53 Degrees Global is already eying more label launches.
53 Degrees Global will “target new opportunities in digital content production and work for international corporate clients,” according to the indie, which said it is already working with “high-profile clients on various international projects.” Bullen will be Chairman of the company.
Led by Creative Director Kerene Barefield, Love Monday, meanwhile, will produce fact-ent, specialist factual, and digital content for UK and international platforms. The label is making Battle of the Bagpipes for Sky Arts, which reveals the fiercely competitive audition process for the Lone Piper at the Royal Military Tattoo, along with taking on production of the same network’s Master Crafters: The Next Generation. Love Monday will also produce bi-monthly talk show The Royal Beat for Spun Gold streamer True Royalty TV.
“Launching 53 Degrees Global will provide us with the structure and agility to open up new revenue streams including digital opportunities and corporate work for high profile international clients, alongside building on the successful operations of our existing brands,” said Bullen. “And I’m thrilled to be launching Love Monday as part of 53 Degrees Global. Kerene is one of the UK’s leading executive producers whose skill set ranges from live fast-turnaround factual entertainment to high-end specialist factual programming and exclusive royal access, as well as creating social content.”
Spun Gold turns 20 next year. British indie vet Bullen’s outfit is well known for royal content such as The Real Windsors and Meghan Markle For President? along with BAFTA-nominee The Real Full Monty and TLC/Discovery+ competition Milf Manor. It recently took on production of the BAFTA TV and Film Awards and Penny Lane will produce the BAFTAs from next year.
