The Shiba Inu cryptocurrency community is currently on high alert due to the compromise of a prominent admin’s Telegram account. Ragnar Shib, an esteemed administrator in the Shiba Inu ecosystem, recently had his Telegram handle hijacked. The compromised account was used to falsely announce an illegitimate BONE token airdrop.
The scam attempted to push a sense of urgency amongst SHIB enthusiasts by stating that the supposed airdrop had a limited supply. The message from the fraudsters read:
“The BONE community airdrop wave is now open for claiming. A moment a lot of you have been waiting for! We appreciate the increase in interest and engagement up to this point in Shib’s journey. Holders, followers and builders are all eligible to claim a select amount of BONE, more information below. The airdrop will be open to all followers of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, we want everyone involved. Tokens will be provided by the team treasury wallet, meaning this will be a limited wave.”
Security Warning For The Shiba Inu Community
In light of these deceitful developments, several key figures in the Shiba Inu ecosystem acted swiftly to inform and caution the community. Vet Kusama, an influencer in the SHIB realm, took to the X platform to clear the air. “RagnarShiba TG account was hacked. Do not click on any links. There is no airdrop,” he alerted. His post also included a censored screenshot of the misleading content that had originated from Ragnar Shib’s compromised account.
DaVinci, the Shiba Inu Discord channel administrator, also warned against interacting with the compromised Telegram account. “Please avoid any communication or transactions with this account to protect yourself from potential fraud. Stay safe and report any suspicious activity immediately,” he advised. Lucie, Shiba Inu’s chief marketing strategist, further amplified this caution by sharing DaVinci’s message on the X platform, underscoring the importance of the alert.
In the midst of this security breach, some community members expressed that the Shiba Inu development team should prioritize establishing a cybersecurity division, emphasizing the importance of fortifying digital defenses to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Investors and members of the SHIB community are urged to exercise caution, prioritize online security, and refrain from engaging in suspicious activities or alleged airdrops.
SHIB Remains At Critical Price Level
At press time, the SHIB price was trading at $0.00000727, slightly above its critical support level of $0.00000715. The one-week chart’s support line will be pivotal in deciding SHIB’s trajectory.
A bullish quadruple bottom might trigger a significant surge towards the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement (+250%). Conversely, if a descending triangle pattern emerges, SHIB could plummet to its annual low of $0.000006 or potentially dip further.
