Stock market live updates: Stock market benchmark indices opened with firm gains on Wednesday amid strength in other global markets. The BSE Sensex rose 270 points to 72,550 and the NSE Nifty50 gained 116 points to 22,045.
SBI, Axis Bank, Asian Paints, M&M, Titan, Kotak Bank and Bajaj twins led gains on the Sensex, while Britannia, HDFC Life and Coal India were the additional winners on Nifty.
On the flip side, Power Grid, Infosys, Wipro, HCLTech and UPL were the top frontline gainers.
The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices rose 0.8 per cent each.
Nifty Realty index gained most, up nearly 3 per cent. PSU Bank index was up 2 per cent, while IT pocket held slim losses.
Nykaa rose nearly 4 per cent after it reported doubling of its net profit in Q3 to Rs 17.5 crore versus an year ago.
