The LGBTQ community is under attack by right-wing radicals who are using religious books and ancient traditions to justify discrimination.
When science was not as advanced, religion was used to explain everything. Eclipses, plagues, earthquakes, sickness and death were all seen as acts of God. However, we now know that these events have natural causes.
Religious bigots are ignoring science and trying to drag us back to the Dark Ages. They are using their religion to justify discrimination against women and the LGBTQ community. This is an affront to all the progress we have made in human rights over the centuries.
The LGBTQ community is a diverse group of people, and transgender people are just one part of that community. However, transgender people are often disproportionately affected by discrimination and violence. That is why it is important to highlight the specific challenges that transgender people face, and to work to ensure that they have the same rights and freedoms as should be rendered to all our citizens.
We should not allow religious extremists to erase our hard-won gains. We should continue to celebrate our diversity and fight for equality for all. We should also educate ourselves about the scientific basis of our world, so we can make informed decisions about our lives.
We know more now than we ever have before, and we are all better off because of it. Let’s use our knowledge to build a better future for everyone.
