Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday chaired a gathering of the committee for the appointment of CBI Director which was additionally attended by Chief of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna.
The assembly was held on the Prime Minister’s Workplace right here on Monday night.
The assembly comes forward of the tip of the two-year time period of incumbent CBI Director Praveen Sood on Might 25.
Sood, a 1986-batch IPS officer of Karnataka cadre, was director common of police (DGP) of the state previous to his appointment. He took over because the Director of the premier investigative company on Might 25, 2023.
The appointment of the CBI Director is finished by the central authorities on the advice of a three-member appointment committee, which is headed by the Prime Minister and includes the chief of opposition in Lok Sabha and the Chief Justice of India.
