Play resumes after second interruption in Pallekele with India in big trouble

Play in the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 match in Pallekele has resumed after another break due to weather. Rain stopped play for the second time with the Men in Blue were in trouble at 51/3 after 11.2 overs. Shubman Gill was batting on 6 off 24 and Ishan Kishan on 2 off 6 when play was halted.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were cleaned up by Shaheen Afridi for 11 and 4 respectively after played resumed following the first rain interruption. Comeback man Shreyas Iyer also fell to Haris Rauf for 14.

Team India won the toss and decided to bat first. However, only 4.2 overs were bowled when weather interrupted proceedings. The toss took place as scheduled at 2:30 PM IST. When play was stopped due to rain, Rohit was batting on 11 while Gill was yet to open his account. Things changed drastically once the match resumed.

The conditions have improved, exclaimed Ravi Shastri ahead of the toss. Earlier, visuals from Disney + Hotstar showed the covers being removed and players from both teams warming up ahead of the toss. Before that, the covers were on due a steady drizzle, but conditions got significantly better later on.

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2023: Pallekele weather forecast

According to AccWeather, there are chances of rain and showers during the duration of the match. The afternoon forecast says, it will be cloudy and humid with a couple of showers. The cloud cover will be around 98 percent.

Rain and drizzle is predicted for the evening as well, with humidity at 100 percent and cloud cover at 99 percent.


Cricket fans share updates on Pallekele weather

A number of cricket fans have been sharing updates on the weather in Pallekele. According to some, there hasn’t been any rain since morning although the conditions are still overcast.

Others claimed that, there has been light drizzle, but not enough to threaten the match. Many are hopeful of the game going ahead due to improvement in weather on the morning of the match. Fingers crossed!

When the teams met last time at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in the 2022 T20 World Cup, it resulted in a brilliant encounter as the Men in Blue beat Pakistan off the last ball. Virat Kohli (82* off 53) was the hero for India, playing a blinder.

Cricket fans are expecting another great contest, but they also want the rain to stay away. On the eve of the game, most weather apps predicted that there are more than 90 percent chances of rain during the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 match.


India vs Pakistan: Asia Cup 2023 record in ODIs

As you wait with bated breath for the match to start, here’s a look at India’s record against Pakistan in the Asia Cup in ODIs.

India have Pakistan have met in the Asia Cup 13 times so far, with the Men in Blue winning seven matches and Pakistan five. One game did not produce a result.

The last match between the two teams was in 2018 when India hammered Pakistan by nine wickets.
