“Be good to yourself, Charlie, and get as far away from here as you can.” Vertical has unveiled the official trailer for an assassin action film called Fast Charlie, the latest feature from acclaimed filmmaker Phillip Noyce (of Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, The Saint, Salt, The Giver). Pierce Brosnan stars as Charlie Swift – a fixer with a problem: the thug he’s after is now missing his head, and Charlie will only be paid if the body can be identified. Enter Marcie Kramer, the victim’s ex-wife and a woman with all the skills Charlie needs – so they partner up. Along the way, Charlie and Marcie fight to protect the legacy of Charlie’s best friend and mentor, Stan Mullen (James Caan in his final performance), while bringing down Beggar and his entire crew. The cast also includes Morena Baccarin, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Toby Huss, along with Sharon Gless and Caan. That little blue scope on his gun is an amusing detail. It’s nice to see Brosnan actually playing a unique character and doing it well again! He’s made me actually curious about watching.

Charlie Swift (Pierce Brosnan), aka “Fast Charlie,” is a fixer with a problem: the target he’s whacked is missing his head. And he must prove it’s the intended target to the man who paid for the hit – New Orleans’ most prominent and most ruthless mobster, Beggar Mercado (Gbenga Akinnagbe). Charlie enlists Marcie Kramer (Morena Baccarin), the victim’s ex-wife and a woman with the backbone & skillset Charlie needs. Dragging Marcie back into a past she was determined to escape sends the two of them on a totally wild and unpredictable odyssey that’s unexpectedly amusing, action propelled, and ultimately heartfelt. Fast Charlie is directed by acclaimed Australian filmmaker Phillip Noyce, director of many movies including Backroads, Newsfront, Heatwave, Dead Calm, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, The Saint, The Bone Collector, Rabbit-Proof Fence, The Quiet American, Catch a Fire, Salt, The Giver, as well as Above Suspicion previously. The script is by Richard Wenk, based on the novel “Gun Monkeys” by Victor Gischler. Produced by Daniel Grodnik, Jeff Holland, Brent C. Johnson, Ryan Donnell Smith, Mitchell Welch. Vertical will debut Noyce’s Fast Charlie in select US theaters + on VOD starting on December 8th, 2023 this fall.
