It’s sad that our schools have become battlefields. Children these days should wear hats and carry honor badges that say “U.S. School Veteran Survivor” after they graduate. They’re all living in war zones.
Any child who has survived a mass murder in their school will endure the same mental scars as a man or woman who faced battle in a war. Young lives are being ruined with PTSD and fear of loud noises.
These are children. The right appears to be perfectly happy with the status quo. We need to start building monuments, like the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, engraved with the names of all children and teachers who have been killed in U.S. schools. Maybe a giant gold star decorated with teddy bears, pencils, balloons and crayons so people might pick up on the innocence lost. They can take the monuments on national tours to show off in exhibits. We could have a Child School Veterans day.
I can’t put guns above children and that is what our country has done. You can have your regulated guns to protect yourselves but, like cars, alcohol, cigarettes fishing and hunting, they need to be regulated. They should require background checks, be licensed, placed in locked containers and require education to own.
