The new episode of Modern Horror Movie Talk digs into the Dracula horror comedy Renfield, starring Nicholas Hoult and Nicolas Cage
A new video series called Modern Horror Movie Talk recently made its premiere on the Arrow in the Head Show YouTube channel, and with each episode of this show we’ll be joining host Tyler Nichols as he covers all new horror releases, the latest horror movie news, and new horror trailers. Films discussed in previous episodes of Modern Horror Movie Talk include Cocaine Bear, Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving, The Pope’s Exorcist, the newly released entry in the Children of the Corn franchise, The Blackening, Scream VI, 65, Infinity Pool, Terrifier 2, and Knock at the Cabin. Now, for the eighth episode, Tyler is joined by special guest Kier Gomes to dig into the newly released Dracula horror comedy Renfield (read our review HERE). To find out what they thought of the movie, check out the video embedded above!
Based on a treatment written by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Renfield was directed by Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War) from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley (Rick and Morty). In Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, R.M. Renfield was an inmate at a lunatic asylum who was thought to be suffering from delusions but actually is a servant of Dracula. In this film, Renfield has been serving the bloodsucker for centuries, and now he has grown sick and tired of his centuries as Dracula’s lackey. The henchman finds a new lease on life life and maybe even redemption when he falls for feisty, perennially angry traffic cop Rebecca Quincy.
Nicholas Hoult plays the title character and is joined in the cast by Awkwafina, Adrian Martinez, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Bess Rous, James Moses Black, Ben Schwartz, Caroline Williams, and William Ragsdale, with Nicolas Cage as Dracula.
