How is the luxury real estate market in Canada differ from the US market?
Ironically, the markets seem to trend the same in Canada as in the US. The differences come from different taxes and Foreign Buyer restrictions in some areas of Canada. Whistler does NOT have these restrictions and US Buyers can benefit from the lucrative exchange rate.
What predictions do you have for the real estate industry, specifically in resort areas like Whistler, for the remainder of 2024?
Resort Areas are typically second homes and we see people continuing to invest in their family lifestyle by finding a second home where they can enjoy their recreation time. Housing for locals remains an issue in Canada and the US but, as governments provide direction and funds, these issues should dissipate over time. The private sector can also benefit from building rental housing as Resort Towns need a stable workforce.
