Manchester City have finalised the signing of Argentine midfielder Maximo Perrone from Velez Sarsfield.
90min confirmed early in the transfer window City had fought off competition to strike a deal for the 20-year-old, who was also being chased by Benfica, Newcastle and Wolverhampton Wanderers, among others.
City are understood to have triggered Perrone’s release clause, which sat at around $9m (£7.5m).
The defensive midfielder has put pen to paper on a five-and-a-half-year contract at the Etihad Stadium and follows fellow countryman Julian Alvarez in moving to the blue half of Manchester this season.
