Jurgen Klopp has named his Liverpool squad for the upcoming 2023/24 Europa League campaign with new signings Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch all involved.
Liverpool, like every other club in European competition, are required to categorise players into either two separate lists: A or B. The former is comprised of a maximum of 25 players, eight of whom must be classified as homegrown, and makes up the majority of the Liverpool squad.
List B is made up of the squad’s younger players, including the likes of Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajcetic. List B players have to be born on or after 1 January 2002, but also need to have played for Liverpool for two uninterrupted years.
As a result of these strict rules, Liverpool have had to omit third-choice goalkeeper Adrian – replacing him with homegrown Vitezslav Jaros – given they have 18 non-homegrown List A players but only 17 spots they can fill. However, the Spaniard can still feature for the Reds, but only in accordance with a UEFA rule that states a goalkeeper that has a long-term injury can be replaced in the squad.
List A: Alisson, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas, Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Thiago, Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, Ben Doak
Club trained: Caoimhin Kelleher, Vitezslav Jaros, Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones
Association trained: Bobby Clark
Likely players for List B: Harvey Elliott, Stefan Bajcetic, Marcelo Pitaluga, Conor Bradley, Jarell Quansah
