LETTER: R2 billion in damages payouts are simply the tip of the iceberg

It’s a main catastrophe to spend greater than two billion rand in damages (“Police shell out over R2,2 billion in civil claims”, Might 20, 2024) when in truth our police division is under-resourced in any occasion.

Moreover, I consider that two billion rand for the wrongful arrest and detentions is simply the tip of the iceberg.

The police should have spent a whole lot of thousands and thousands of rands on authorized charges in attempting to defend these claims.

The one method we’re going to sort out this correctly is by making the precise policemen who did the fallacious, culpable. We have to begin dismissing grossly negligent policemen and likewise maintain them personally accountable.
