Football FanCast brings you the latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours from Stamford Bridge…
Football FanCast is here to update you with all the latest Chelsea transfer news and gossip ahead of Mauricio Pochettino’s first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Nicolas Jackson set for medical
Daily Mail: Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson looks a certainty to be the next new Chelsea player – and their second striker signing this window. The Senegalese ace is set to have a medical this weekend.
He’s following in the footsteps of Christopher Nkunku as a boost to Chelsea’s goalscoring woes. The Blues struggled badly to score goals last season and they’ll hope their new duo can turn things around.
As for a fee, Chelsea will pay around £30m to Villarreal. They’re getting a 22-year-old who bagged 12 La Liga goals last season for that money – a deal that could end up looking like a steal.
Chelsea to meet United over Mount
Matt Law: The Daily Telegraph’s Matt Law understands that Chelsea have rejected Manchester United’s third offer for Mason Mount. But that doesn’t mean they’re really saying no.
Instead, the Blues, who do want to move the player on, hope to sit down with United for proper talks. They’ve put their own potential fee on the table, too – £58m with a further £7m in add-ons.
But it sounds as though Chelsea don’t expect United to agree to that. At least, that’s the impression given by their desire to sit down for in-person talks. There’ll be a middle ground somewhere, it seems, and Mount will surely end up a United player.
Caicedo talks resume
Daily Mail: Chelsea have resumed talks with Brighton over Moisés Caicedo. The midfielder has been in demand at the Blues all year and they’ll hope to finally get this one across the line before too long.
There’s no mention of a fee, but with Mount and Kai Havertz presumably on their way – along with several players to Saudi Arabia – the funds should be there to sign the Ecuadorian.
