Indian Oil Company (IOC) rolled out M15 petrol — a 15 per cent mix of methanol with petrol — on a pilot foundation in Assam’s Tinsukia district.
Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Pure Gasoline Rameswar Teli launched the M15 petrol within the presence of Niti Aayog member VK Saraswat and IOC chairman SM Vaidya on Saturday. Teli mentioned that mixing gas with methanol will present respite from the rising costs.
“Pilot rollout of M15 is a stepping stone in direction of attaining gas independence and decreasing the import burden. Steps are being taken by IOC to make India self-sufficient in power,” he added.
“The pilot rollout was finished in Tinsukia by the corporate because of the prepared availability of methanol, which is being manufactured by Assam Petrochemical Ltd within the neighborhood of Digboi refinery,” mentioned an official assertion.
