Intriguing Teaser Trailer for Thai Time Warp Movie ‘Taklee Genesis’

“Why do they want me to be scared?” WB Thailand has unveiled a first look teaser trailer for an upcmoing sci-fi movie called Taklee Genesis, opening in Thailand next May. This is the first ever Thai movie from Warner Bros Thailand, an ambitious sci-fi time-hopping thriller. During the Vietnam War, the American military built a large research station at Camp Ramsun, rumored to be a site experimenting with supersonic travel. The plot involves a device that allows for time warping – spanning thousands of years as hinted at in this trailer with dinosaurs and more. “Taklee Genesis is a Thai film genre not undertaken on the big screen for a long time,” WB says. Starring Paula Taylor, Peter Corp Dyrendal, War-Wanarat Rasamerat, Natcha Nina Jessica Padowan, Phutharit Phrombandan, Sai-Indira Charoenpura, Nuchanpa Soidara, and Nara Thepnupha. This looks pretty dang cool, I have to say – the teaser certainly got my attention. I’m curious to find out more. “Join us on a journey to find the answer in movie theaters in 2024.”

“Taklee Genesis” refers to a warp-speed teleporter left behind from the Cold War. A US military officer takes on a secret mission to investigate the matter and find the device but gets stuck in another time warp. The film spans different time periods, from the pre-historic Ban Chiang, now a UNESCO world heritage site, to 100 years in the future. Taklee Genesis, also known as ตาคลี เจเนซิส in Thai, is both written and directed by the Thai filmmaker Ma-Deaw Chookiat Sakveerakul (aka “Matthew” Chookiat Sakveerakul), director of many movies including House of Ghosts, 13: Game of Death, Love of Siam, The 4 Movie, Grean Fictions, The Eyes Diary, Pay It Forward, Dew, and Mondo, and a few more TV series like “Nang Marn” and “Manner of Death” previously. Produced by the company Neramitnung Film. Warner Bros Thailand will debut Sakveerakul’s Taklee Genesis in Thai cinemas on May 1st, 2024 next summer. No US date is set yet.
