Regulators and airlines are launching investigations following a midair incident involving a Boeing (NYSE:) 737 MAX jet.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a temporary grounding order for certain Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and mandated immediate inspections.
The action comes in response to an emergency landing prompted by the detachment of a section of the aircraft during flight.
United (UAL) and Alaska Airlines (ALK) are reported to be the largest customers of the Boeing 737 MAX-9 model, emphasizing the potential impact on major carriers.
“We are aware of the incident involving Alaska Airlines Flight 1282,” a Boeing spokesperson said. “We are working to gather more information and are in contact with our airline customer.”
