PALS have paid tribute to a former British soldier killed preventing in Ukraine.
Jake Waddington, 34, was hit by a grenade dropped from a Russian drone on Monday.
The previous Royal Anglian soldier – who reportedly spoke Russian, Ukrainian and Pashtu – joined Ukraine’s Worldwide Legion in 2023.
A second soldier was critically injured within the assault in Zaporizhia province.
Jake’s good friend and former comrade Rob Clark wrote on Fb: “You have been among the finest of us.”
He added: “Those that know Jake will bear in mind his significantly peculiar but infectious sense of humour, how disarming he was, how he noticed the great in everybody, his deep love of animals; and his sense of profound decency, honour, and equity.”
Jake’s profession within the Military was lower quick after he suffered an epileptic seizure.
Clark added: “The irony is Jake’s medical circumstances precluded a lot of his service within the Military, which is what helped him volunteer to struggle in Ukraine.
