Ed Sheeran has apologised to Ruben Amorim after gatecrashing a Sky Sports activities interview with the brand new Manchester United supervisor.
Amorim was chatting with presenter Kelly Cates in addition to pundits Roy Keane, Izzy Christiansen and Jamie Redknapp after United’s 1-1 draw at Ipswich.
Sheeran is an Ipswich fan and minority stakeholder within the membership, and watched on from the stands as his crew earned a powerful draw.
As Amorim answered questions after the sport, Sheeran then bounded on to the set and hugged pal Redknapp in a weird interruption.
Amorim appeared unimpressed, whereas Redknapp informed Sheeran to “come and say hiya in a minute”.
On Monday, Sheeran posted on social media: “Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday, didn’t realise he was really being interviewed on the time, was popping to say hello and bye to Jamie. Obz really feel a little bit of a b****** however life goes on. Nice sport although, congrats to all concerned x.”
Sheeran had been criticised on social media, with TV viewers describing the change as “awkward” and “impolite”.
Manchester United fan and podcaster Jay Motty tweeted: “The f****** state of this egotistical clown who is aware of nothing about soccer interrupting a Ruben Amorim interview to speak to Ed Sheeran.”
One other person tweeted: “Absolute newbie hour from these muppets [Sky Sports], present some respect. Ruben ought to have simply walked.”
One other wrote: “Ed Sheeran and Sky Sports activities are a humiliation. I hope Amorim doesn’t do interviews with Sky Sports activities once more.”
