Tesla is closing its workplace in San Mateo, California, and eliminating an estimated 200 jobs there, CNBC has confirmed, as a part of a broader cost-cutting effort on the electrical car firm.
On the San Mateo facility, tons of of staff had been tasked with labeling movies from the corporate’s automobiles with the intention to enhance their driver help methods, marketed as Autopilot. Bloomberg first reported on the workplace closure and layoffs.
Two staff impacted by the layoffs advised CNBC on Tuesday that they knew Tesla’s lease was approaching its finish. The employees requested to not be named as a result of they weren’t approved to talk on the matter.
