“You must always protect your family.” Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for a “tense thriller” called The Marsh King’s Daughter, based on the book of the same name written by Karen Dionne. Landing in theaters this October. A woman tells her story about her life when she was young and about her mother who was abducted by her father and is forced to confront her past. Helena’s father is the infamous “Marsh King,” the man who kept her and her mother captive in the wilderness for years. When Helena’s father escapes from prison, Helena must find the strength to face her demons and the man she once idolized, knowing that her father will come to hunt both Helena and her family. Now she must get revenge. Daisy Ridley stars as Helena Pelletier, with Brooklynn Prince, Ben Mendelsohn, Garrett Hedlund, Caren Pistorius, and Joey Carson. This has a slick premise – a chilling setup with an abusive, sneaky father, who breaks out of prison. So she sets up some traps & figures out how to be the one who finally has the high ground over him.
