Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Cameron Green started bowling in the nets ahead of their next match in IPL 2026. It was a welcome development after KKR following the uproar about the topic, following his non-availability with the ball during the previous game against the Mumbai Indians (MI).

At the post-match presentation after the game, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane gave an interesting reply when asked about Green not bowling, saying:

“Ask Cricket Australia.”

The veteran cricketer later opened up that if Green begins bowling in the coming games, it will change their team composition and give them a better balance.

KKR recently provided a positive update on the matter via a video on their official X handle. In it, Cameron Green could be seen bowling at full tilt in the nets, which means he might bolster the Knight Riders’ bowling unit with his presence soon.

KKR will next face SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2026 on Thursday (April 2) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

“It can’t happen in a professional setting” – Ambati Rayudu on Cameron Green not bowling in KKR’s IPL 2026 clash vs MI

Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu recently criticized Cricket Australia for restricting Cameron Green from bowling in a couple of matches in IPL 2026. He slammed the decision and opined that it cannot happen in a professional game. Speaking on the matter on ESPNcricinfo, Rayudu said:

“Can he play a cover drive or not? Maybe he might just injure his elbow. Maybe he should just flick the ball. It is absolutely absurd. When somebody is coming to compete in a tournament and you tell him, ‘you can do this and you can’t do that’, absolute nonsense. It can’t happen in a professional setting.”

He continued:

“I think it should be upto the player. If he is competing as a professional, he should be able to do whatever he is capable of doing. The player is the best judge. My mom always wanted me to wear a helmet, but I never liked it. Does not mean that my mom signs a contract and sends me out saying that, ‘he can’t play, my son might get injured.”
