Britney Spears knew what she was doing with THAT sex scene in Crossroads.
If you’ve never seen the 2002 flick, the Toxic singer stars alongside Zoe Saldaña and Taryn Manning as three high school graduates who embark on a road trip from their home state of Louisiana to El Lay. Towards the end of the movie, Brit’s character Lucy has a sex scene with Anson Mount’s Ben (above, inset) — which was apparently a struggle to keep in the final cut!
Why? Well, some folks missed the “not a girl” part of the song and were too focused on the “not yet a woman” part.

While sitting down with Entertainment Weekly last week, director Tamra Davis recalled working with Britney, who was keen to debut a more adult image with her film debut. Tamra told the outlet:
“We definitely had to fight for some stuff. She wanted to [challenge] that image that she’s this forever virgin girl.”
At the time, the Lucky singer was transitioning out of her teen years and into adulthood alongside her then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake, who for years, the world believed was the first person she’d ever slept with. But Brit was ready to break out of that shell!
It’s wild Brit had to fight for this. Heck, the sex scene wasn’t anything graphic, as Tamra points out — the movie was PG-13 after all! The filmmaker reflected:
“A kid would not know what the heck is going on! That was a fight I’m happy we won.”
