Cariloha was born in the islands, and our passion for soft and sustainable products combined with island living grew from there. Many of our customers and fans experience Cariloha for the first time at one of our many resort or cruise destination showrooms – a wonderful place where customers can go and feel the difference of bamboo softness for themselves. Being there and touching the luxuriously soft bamboo-viscose fabrics can make all the difference.
Our Cariloha showrooms don’t pop up overnight by themselves, however. We put our showrooms in the most popular destinations in the world, which then require all the care and details behind the scenes that make it exclusively Cariloha to bring the showroom to life.
We’re pulling back the curtain and sitting down with James M., one of Cariloha’s talented showroom designers, to learn more about what inspires him to design such beautiful shopping spaces.
Question: Where does your inspiration come from when designing/creating?
Answer: My Inspiration comes from many different sources. Inspiration can strike at any moment from anything around you. Whether it’s nature, history, art or design. I believe in continuing to search and explore the world – you never know what’s around the next corner.
Question: What are three different bedroom or bed design looks that you like these days?
Answer: I would say lately that I’m really liking the spa/resort look and feel. It’s a classic, clean and crisp look that immediately relaxes you.
There’s also the boho look that I enjoy. It’s a look that gives off a soft, cozy feeling that makes you comfortable.
Lastly, I appreciate the contemporary interpretations of art deco styling. It gives everything an interesting twist, while still being comfortable.
Question: What do you like most about Cariloha bamboo products?
Answer: I love to see the excitement that our products instill in our customers. Their enthusiasm for what we sell energizes me to provide the best shopping experience possible in our showrooms.
Question: What are some or one of your go-to Cariloha bamboo products?
Answer: I love our blankets and throws. I think they do an amazing job of adding texture and pops of color to any showroom space or, more fittingly, bedroom space. Plus, they have the added benefit of being cozy and soft. They’re a great item to curl up with.
Question: What do wish customers knew about Cariloha products?
Answer: I wish customers knew just how much thought goes into our products and our business in general. Cariloha truly strives to make products that don’t only benefit them, but help the environment as well.
Learning about the process to produce our bamboo-viscose fabric and how Cariloha takes key steps in offsetting our carbon emissions to become carbon neutral was very reassuring to me.
Question: How do you approach a new Cariloha showroom design?
Answer: I look at all design projects as a provocative puzzle. Many pieces need to be considered and valued. How do the displays and fixtures fit within our core message and mission? Do they properly portray the softness and sustainability of our products? How does the space elevate the shopping experience for our customers? I love when all the pieces fall into place to create a cohesive, beautiful showroom. .
