The BBC is to inform the story of The Different Bennet Sister, adapting a novel penned by former BBC Two Controller Janice Hadlow and produced by Unhealthy Wolf.
The guide tells the story of Mary Bennet – the seemingly unremarkable and neglected center sister in Jane Austen’s Satisfaction and Prejudice. Not like her sisters, Mary isn’t your typical interval drama heroine. She is awkward, anxious, preachy, stuffed with information, and neglected by her mom. She is seemingly destined to an empty dance card for the remainder of her life, till Mary takes issues into her personal palms.
Hadlow’s guide was printed in 2020. She is a former BBC Two controller who commissioned the likes of Nice British Bake Off, Line of Obligation and Wolf Corridor throughout her tenure.
The Different Bennet Sister shall be penned by The Energy co-creator Sarah Quintrell. Unhealthy Wolf, which is at the moment seeing BBC-HBO hit Trade carry out properly on either side of the pond, is producing.
